Helen
Pike leads "Flash Fiction! Ot Not" on the Bellevue Stratford
porch. |
|
Ocean Grove is a town just bursting with history.
But a lot of it is waiting to be shared. Here’s your chance
to tell your story.
"So
then I said..." is a 10-week memoir-writing workshop with
award-wining author and successful writing coach Helen Chantal
Pike, designed to give you the opportunity to finally share with
your family and friends the stories you've always promised to
write.
Helen
has written several histories herself, mostly about Asbury Park.
She’s no stranger to the Grove, however. In fact, in June
2006 she organized the successful “Flash Fiction! Or Not’
contest, which was held on the porch of the Bellevue Stratford
on Main Avenue. She’s also held frequent book signings at
Comfort Zone Books, where you can find her work today (as well
as on www.helenpike.com.)
For
“So then I said…” Helen is looking for 10 folks
to follow in her footsteps in put their stories down on paper.
The series starts September 18 and runs for two hours every Thursday
night beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Historic VFW Hall on Lake
and Bond in Asbury Park just across Wesley Lake. Parking is free
in the VFW lot, included in the $179 cost of the course, which
will wrap up on Thursday, December 4 with a bonus class on Do
It Yourself Publishing.
